Signature Healthcare is committed to providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the diverse community we serve, including those patients with limited English proficiencies, as well as those with visual, verbal, auditory, or cognitive disabilities.
Effective communication is vital to healthcare. In order to be responsive to the needs of our patients, we have services and resources available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to facilitate communication between our patients and providers. Services are provided at no cost to patients at all Signature Healthcare locations.
Signature Healthcare uses a variety of resources to facilitate communication, to best meet the varied needs of our patients.
- Our physicians speak over 25 different languages, including Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Haitian Creole, French, Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, and more.
- We have trained medical interpreters speaking Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and French, as well as over-the-phone interpretation, and translated documents in the primary languages of our community.
For our deaf and hard-of-hearing patients, we offer sign language interpreters through the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, TTY units, and Deaf Talk – a video conferencing system for real-time interpretation of American Sign Language.
