Gift of Appreciated Securities

Gifts of securities are accepted by Signature Healthcare Foundation. Gifts of appreciated securities could have great benefits to you, as they may be exempt from capital gains taxes.

To make a gift of securities, please contact our Philanthropy office at 508-941-7078. Our staff will assist you with the transaction and advise as to how to value the stocks for tax purposes.

If your stock is held by a broker, your broker may contact us directly. If you hold the stocks, do not endorse them, and contact us and we will assist you.

A Gift Through Your Will

For many donors, a gift made through their will is the best way to make a substantial contribution to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Donors can leave specific dollar amounts or a percentage of their estate. Through a bequest, a donor can make a gift without depleting current assets and eliminate or reduce federal estate taxes. Why Should I Give to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital?

• Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital is not-for-profit and relies on the generosity of the community to support programs, hospital improvements and education. All money earned through services provided is reinvested in the organization. We do not have stocks, and we don't pay shareholders. Our Board of Trustees is made up of volunteers from the community. All of the money comes back to the community in the form of health services.
• We want to make sure that our hospital stays up-to-date on medical advances and technology. Reimbursement from insurance may cover the cost of providing treatment, but doesn't cover the purchase of new equipment, services such as Better Beginings that supports pregnant women, especially low income teens and ethnic minorities and teaches them about nutrition and infant care; or facility upgrades, such as providing comfortable waiting areas for patients and their families.
• Access to full-service health care is very important to a community's quality of life. Having a full range of health services is important to the region's economy as governmental leaders seek to attract new businesses and, in turn, those employers attract new employees.
• When you need medical care, you don't want to have to travel into Boston. The work of the Foundation also helps ensure that when you need health care, it will be available close to home.

Types of Gifts

Unrestricted

An unrestricted gift allows Signature Healthcare Foundation to oversee where and how the funds are used. Unrestricted gifts are ultimately the responsibility of the Board of Trustees, who ensure that their use is allocated to the area most needed at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.

Restricted

Donations can be made to a wide range of specialty services or programs at the hospital, consistent with the donor's personal interests. Call Charlene F. Pontbriand, Vice President for Philanthropy at 508-941-7078 for more details of the available giving opportunities.

Scholarship

Gifts to support or endow scholarships go directly to deserving students at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, recognizing their achievements and helping meet the cost of tuition and fees. In addition, they make an immediate difference by inspiring students through the trust you show in their ability to reach their full potential.

Capital and Equipment

Capital gifts for building construction, equipment or renovation provide caregivers with efficient facilities to deliver state-of-the-art care to their patients.

Tribute Gifts
