Brockton Hospital School of Nursing (BHSN), a private institution of higher education, is an integral part of Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Originally established in 1897, BHSN has long had a prestigious reputation in nursing education. BHSN has graduated over 2000 nurses, mainly from southeastern Massachusetts.
 

A Profile of BHSN

The Program: BHSN has a collegiate affiliation with Fisher College to conduct a cooperative two year day and four year weekend/evening nursing program. The program awards students a diploma in nursing from BHSN and an Associate in Science degree from Fisher College. This is the only hospital-based nursing school of its kind in Massachusetts. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses. 

Location

Brockton, Massachusetts, approximately 20 miles south of Boston in historic Plymouth County.

Character

Private, day and weekend/evening divisions, co-educational.

Students

Day division students are mostly traditional high school graduates. In recent years, a significant number of nontraditional students have enrolled; men adult learners, single parents and licensed practical nurses. Weekend/evening division students are primarily adult learners who are employed full time in other fields or are in the process of career change.

Faculty

18 nursing faculty of whom 100% hold earned master’s of science degrees and other appropriate credentials. Fisher faculty hold appropriate terminal degrees.

Financial

BHSN makes every effort to assist qualified students to obtain the necessary support to bear the cost of the nursing program. Students eligible for financial assistance may receive a combination of grants, scholarships and loans individually designed to meet the difference between student and family resources and the total cost of education. More than half of the students attending BHSN receive some form of financial assistance.
