Brockton Hospital officials announced the renaming of its parent organization this evening during the hospital’s annual Ring of Champions dinner. Formerly known as the Brockton Health Corporation, the new name, SIGNATURE HEALTHCARE, better represents the vision of what is fast becoming the premier integrated healthcare delivery system in southeastern Massachusetts. Signature Healthcare is now the parent company of Brockton Hospital and its affiliated physician practice groups. Signature Healthcare will combine the strengths of Brockton Hospital, its affiliated physician practice groups (Primary Care Affiliates, Women’s Health Affiliates, and Brockton Hospital Specialty Physician Group), the Brockton Hospital Foundation, the Ambassadors Club, and the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. It was also announced that Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates, the region's largest multi-site, multi-specialty physician group practice, intends to join the Signature Healthcare family in early 2008. “Signature Healthcare brings the people of our community one seamless, locally governed healthcare delivery system,” said Brockton Hospital and Signature Healthcare president Norman B. Goodman, during his announcement. “We are more than just a hospital and a group of providers. We are an integrated team of doctors, nurses, and support staff. We are a local system of care, with everyone working from the same medical record, tapping into the same electronic network of world-class resources and sharing a common vision to deliver uncompromising care. Our new name best reflects the comprehensive nature of the care we provide.” Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital is a private, not-for-profit, 268-bed community-based teaching hospital serving a constituency of nearly 460,000 residents in a primary service area of more than 20 southeastern Massachusetts communities. Focusing on community-based care, the Outpatient Department provides 26 primary care and specialty clinics throughout the service area. With more than 60,000 visits, Brockton Hospital operates one the busiest emergency rooms in the state. The Hospital is one of a handful of community hospitals in the Commonwealth licensed to perform primary (emergency) angioplasty, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as elective angioplasty for patients meeting certain criteria as part of the MassCOMM study. Brockton Hospital is a state-designated regional site for radiation therapy and cardiac catheterization and offers centers of excellence in Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Maternity Care, and Radiation Therapy. Brockton Hospital is a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine, and has maintained a hospital-based School of Nursing, in conjunction with Fisher College, with a current enrollment of nearly 300 students. |
