Residency Programs

For more than thirty years, Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital has continued a proud and distinguished tradition of educating the doctors of tomorrow through its residency programs. The Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital residency program is largest community hospital-based program in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital’s academic affiliation with Tufts Medical Center includes residency programs in surgery, internal medicine and a transitional year residency program. Approximately 80 surgical and medical residents from Tufts rotate through Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital during the course of a year. Residents are present at the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital’s Transitional Year Residency Program offers doctors, in their critical first post-graduate year, an opportunity to gain clinical experience in a busy community teaching hospital. The transitional residency program consists of rotations in General Medicine, Critical Care, the Emergency Department, Surgery, Ambulatory medicine, and two electives that can be chosen from multiple medical and surgical disciplines, including neurology.

The Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital program offers Tufts Medical Center a clinically sophisticated community hospital setting to further its residents’ medical education while offering first-year doctors a chance to practice medicine with highly qualified physicians, nurses and other clinical staff, as they gain hands-on experience in every major specialty and subspecialty.
