Prospective Students

Welcome to Brockton Hospital School of Nursing!

Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter’s or sculptor’s work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God’s spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said the finest of Fine Arts. ~Florence Nightingale

COVID-19 Policy

Students must provide documentation that they are fully vaccinated to the Office of Counseling and Student Services. Valid documentation includes an authorized COVID-19 vaccine card or a copy of the formal medical record. Testing for those with an approved medical or religious exemption will be done on the student’s own time and at the student’s own expense (if there is any). The frequency of testing for unvaccinated students will change based on the positivity rate of Brockton and the surrounding community. Evidence of a negative test must be submitted to the Office of Counseling and Student Services in order to continue attending classes and clinicals.

*This policy is subject to change at any time as updated information is received from the CDC and other national organizations. Students should be aware that some clinical agencies have a more stringent policy about COVID-19 vaccination, and students may be unable to attend the assigned clinical rotation if they are unvaccinated. SH/BHSON is mandated by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing as well as our accreditor, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) to provide students with clinical experiences. SH/BHSON is not obligated to provide substitute or alternate clinical experiences based on a student’s request or vaccine preference. Being unvaccinated against COVID-19 may mean the student is not able to complete the clinical nursing courses, and as a result, may not be able to complete the program.
