The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of instruments and medical equipment for use in Surgical Services, as well as many other patient care areas. They serve Maternity, Radiology, Endoscopy and many other vital areas of our healthcare organization. SPD Technicians are Nationally Certified through the CBSPD Board. They are also responsible for exchange cart restocks and some surgical case cart building. Sterile Processing plays a vital role in infection prevention and providing quality healthcare for our patients. The Sterile Processing Department processes approximately 60,000 kits per year for patient use.
