Signature Healthcare is committed to providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the diverse community we serve, including those patients with limited English proficiencies, as well as those with visual, verbal, auditory, or cognitive disabilities.
Effective communication is vital to healthcare. In order to be responsive to the needs of our patients, we have services and resources available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to facilitate communication between our patients and providers. Services are provided at no cost to patients at all Signature Healthcare locations.
Signature Healthcare uses a variety of resources to facilitate communication, to best meet the varied needs of our patients.
Signature Healthcare employs a nationally certified American Sign Language interpreter, credentialed through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) who is available to provide services at all Signature Healthcare locations. Additionally, we have access to in-person American Sign Language interpreters through the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. You can request an ASL interpreter when scheduling your appointment.
We use Deaf Talk, a wireless video relay conferencing system which offers real-time interpretation in American Sign Language. Deaf Talk interpreting can be accessed throughout Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.
Signature Healthcare also utilizes TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf). These devices are available in our Emergency Department and at our Main Lobby Information Desk at Brockton Hospital, or on request for inpatient use throughout the hospital.
