National Guard joins Signature Healthcare to aid in providing safe, quality care to the community

Governor Charlie Baker deployed 10 Massachusetts National Guard troop members to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital to allow the organization to continue providing necessary healthcare services to the community, as another COVID-19 surge strains healthcare systems.

Signature Healthcare is one of 55 acute care hospitals and 12 ambulatory service providers in Massachusetts to receive support from the National Guard.

The National Guard troop members at Signature Healthcare trained to assist staff in identified support roles at Brockton Hospital, such as transport, security, patient sitting and food service support.

“We are very grateful for the help we are obtaining, as many areas in the facility are short-staffed, overwhelmed with patient volume and doing additional non-traditional tasks,” said Robert Haffey, President and CEO. “The support will allow our organization to continue the much-needed service of providing healthcare to our community.”

Seven more National Guard members will be joining Signature Healthcare on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
